โ Frequently Asked Questions โ Barcode Generator
Which barcode format should I use?
Code128 is the most versatile โ it encodes any ASCII text and numbers and is used worldwide for shipping, inventory, and general purpose barcodes. EAN-13 is the international retail standard (12 digits + check digit). UPC-A is the North American retail standard (11 digits + check digit). Use Code39 for industrial systems that only support alphanumeric characters. ITF-14 is for outer cartons and shipping pallets (13 digits). When in doubt, use Code128.
How do I download the barcode?
After generating a barcode, click "Download PNG" for a high-quality image file (best for printing and general use), or "Download SVG" for a vector format that scales to any size without losing quality (ideal for professional printing, packaging, and design software). The PNG and SVG buttons appear below the preview once a barcode is generated.
Why is my EAN-13 or UPC-A barcode not generating?
EAN-13 requires exactly 12 digits (the 13th check digit is calculated automatically). UPC-A requires exactly 11 digits (12th check digit is auto-calculated). EAN-8 requires exactly 7 digits. If you enter the wrong number of digits or include non-numeric characters, the generator will show an error. Make sure you enter only digits and the correct count for the format you selected.
Can I generate barcodes in bulk?
Yes. Use the Bulk Barcode Generator section โ enter one value per line, then click Generate All. A separate barcode canvas is generated for each line, displayed in a grid. You can download individual barcodes from the main generator by entering each value one at a time. Bulk mode is ideal for quickly previewing a list of product codes or serial numbers.
