❓ Frequently Asked Questions – Scientific Calculator

What is a scientific calculator and what can it do?
A scientific calculator is an advanced calculator that performs complex mathematical operations beyond basic arithmetic. It supports trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), inverse trig, logarithms (log, ln), exponents, square/cube roots, factorials, constants like π and e, and memory functions. This online scientific calculator also includes unit conversion and calculation history.
What is the difference between DEG, RAD and GRAD mode?
These are different units for measuring angles. DEG (degrees) is the most common — a full circle is 360°. RAD (radians) is used in mathematics and physics — a full circle is 2π radians. GRAD (gradians) divides a full circle into 400 parts. Always make sure you are in the correct mode when using trigonometric functions like sin, cos, and tan.
How do memory functions (M+, M−, MS, MR, MC) work?
MS (Memory Store) saves the current displayed value to memory. MR (Memory Recall) displays the stored value. M+ adds the current value to memory. M− subtracts the current value from memory. MC (Memory Clear) erases the memory. The M indicator lights up when a value is stored in memory.
What does the INV button do?
The INV (Inverse) button toggles between a function and its inverse. For example, sin becomes sin⁻¹ (arcsin), cos becomes cos⁻¹ (arccos), tan becomes tan⁻¹ (arctan), log becomes 10ˣ, and ln becomes eˣ. This doubles the number of available functions without adding more buttons.
How do I calculate factorial on this calculator?
Enter the number you want to find the factorial of (e.g. 5), then click the x! button. The calculator will compute 5! = 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 120. Note that factorials grow very quickly — values above 170 exceed the maximum JavaScript number and will return Infinity.
Does this scientific calculator support keyboard input?
Yes! You can use your full keyboard. Press 0–9 for digits, + − * / for operators, Enter to calculate, Backspace to delete, Escape to clear, and ^ for exponents. Parentheses ( ) are also supported. This makes the calculator much faster for complex calculations.
