โ Frequently Asked Questions
What is an XML sitemap?
An XML sitemap is a file that lists all the important pages on your website and provides metadata about each page (when it was last updated, how often it changes, its priority). Submitting a sitemap to search engines helps them discover and index your pages faster and more efficiently.
How do I submit my sitemap to Google?
Go to Google Search Console โ Select your property โ Click "Sitemaps" in the left menu โ Enter your sitemap URL (usually https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml) โ Click Submit. Google will then crawl and index the URLs in your sitemap.
What is the difference between changefreq and priority?
changefreq tells search engines how often the page content changes (daily, weekly, monthly). priority (0.0 to 1.0) indicates the relative importance of pages within your site โ your homepage is usually 1.0, main category pages 0.8, individual posts 0.6. Note: these are hints, not commands โ search engines may ignore them.
