โ Frequently Asked Questions โ Audio Converter
Which audio format should I convert to?
WAV is lossless and universally compatible โ best for editing or archiving. MP3 is the most common format for music playback with small file sizes. OGG is open-source and great for web use. AAC/M4A offers better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate and works well on Apple devices.
Is my audio file safe? Does it get uploaded?
Your files are completely safe. This converter works entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API โ no files are uploaded to any server. Your audio data never leaves your device, making it 100% private.
Why is MP3 output not supported in some browsers?
MP3 encoding requires a patented codec that not all browsers include natively. Chrome and Edge support MP3 recording via MediaRecorder in some configurations, but WAV and OGG are universally supported. If you need MP3 specifically, try converting to WAV first, then use a dedicated MP3 converter.
What is the maximum file size?
The tool supports audio files up to 50MB per file. For larger files, consider splitting the audio first using our Audio Trimmer tool, then converting each part. Browser memory limits also apply, so very large files may be slow on older devices.
