โ Frequently Asked Questions โ Voice Recorder
Why does the browser ask for microphone permission?
To record audio, the browser needs access to your device's microphone. This is a standard browser security feature. You'll see a permission popup the first time you click Record โ click Allow to proceed. You can revoke this permission anytime from your browser settings. Your audio is never uploaded to any server.
What format is the recording saved in?
Recordings are saved in WebM format (the native browser recording format), which plays in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and VLC. If you need MP3 or WAV, download the WebM file and use our Audio Converter tool, or open it in VLC and export to your preferred format.
Can I record multiple clips?
Yes. Each time you stop a recording, it gets saved as a separate clip in the Recordings list below the recorder. You can record as many clips as you need in one session, play each back individually, and download them separately. Clicking Reset clears all clips from the current session.
Is there a time limit on recordings?
There's no hard time limit built into the tool โ you can record as long as your device memory allows. For very long recordings (over 30 minutes), we recommend a dedicated desktop app like Audacity to avoid any browser memory issues. For short recordings like voice memos, meetings, or notes, this tool works perfectly.
