Why does it take time to load initially?
On first use, the tool downloads the FFmpeg.wasm library (~30MB) from a CDN. This is a one-time download that gets cached by your browser. After the first load, the tool starts instantly without any download delay. The loading time depends on your internet speed — typically 15-45 seconds.
What video formats can I convert between?
You can convert any common video format (MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WebM, OGV) to any other. Audio-only output formats (MP3, WAV, AAC) are also supported for extracting audio from videos. GIF output is supported for short animated clips. Most video formats supported by FFmpeg on desktop are supported here.
What does "Optimize for web/mobile playback" do?
When enabled for MP4 output, this option adds the -movflags +faststart flag to FFmpeg, which moves metadata to the beginning of the file. This allows the video to start playing before it's fully downloaded when embedded on a website or shared on mobile. It's recommended for videos you plan to share online or via messaging apps.
What is the maximum file size supported?
This tool supports videos up to 500MB. The actual limit depends on your device's available RAM, since FFmpeg.wasm processes files in memory. On most modern computers with 8GB+ RAM, large files work well. On mobile devices or older computers with limited RAM, very large files may cause the browser tab to run out of memory. For best performance, use files under 200MB.
